Identifying and Talking about suicide

Posted on behalf of Dr Naina Emcy - Named Doctor for Safeguarding

SP-EAK Suicide Prevention – Explore, Ask, Keep-Safe (3 hrs) the focus of this training is to introduce three key steps to supporting those thinking of suicide.

The key objectives are

  •          To consider our attitudes around suicide

  •          To recognise the ‘signs’ that may indicate someone is having thoughts of suicide

  •          To talk openly about suicide with that person and how we ask about those thoughts

  •          To understand how to listen to someone talking about suicide

  •          To support safety (and a safety plan) with someone thinking of suicide
